Mobile Clinical Assistant with RFID

Wireless Mobility with Concerto Clinical Portal

Orion Health has worked alongside Intel to make Concerto Clinical Portal available on Intel’s Mobile Clinical Assistant (MCA) platform.  MCA is a powerful new concept in computing for clinical environments – offering mobile access to information resources and I.T. at the point of care.

When deployed on an MCA, Concerto can provide wireless access to multiple clinical tools and information sources from across the organisation, including clinical ordering, lab results and charting, clinical documentation and electronic assessment forms.

RFID for Patient ID

Concerto’s patient search has been integrated with the MCA’s on-board RFID scanner to read patient RFID wristbands.  A scan of the wristband automatically identifies the patient within Concerto and brings up their electronic record.  This allows the doctor or nurse to rapidly access patient information such as demographics and clinical results (e.g. blood tests, scans etc) at the point of decision.

Benefits of deploying Concerto Clinical Portal on MCA include:
  • improved safety through positive patient ID via RFID tagging
  • time-savings due to availability of all electronic patient data at patient bedside/point-of-care
  • more consistent and ubiquitous use of electronic records through mobility, allowing clinicians to stay connected while on the move
