Functionality

Rhapsody can connect to external systems using a wide variety of protocols. If required, custom protocols can be implemented using the Rhapsody Development Framework for extending functionality.

Some of the standard protocols supported are:
TCP(S), FTP, SFTP, HTTP(S), SMTP, JDBC, ODBC, SQL, JMS Queues, Serial (RS-232) communications, File based, Printer, HylaFax.

Once a message enters the Rhapsody Engine, it is processed by a customizable sequence of actions before delivery to its final destination(s). Custom actions can be created using the Rhapsody Development Framework.

Rhapsody includes a number of standard processing actions including:
EDI, XML and data-specific message validation (including HIPAA validation), Acknowledgement generation, message mapping, MIMEencoding, encryption and decryption, character encoding, database lookup and query, code translation, DICOM extraction and PDF generation.

Hardware and Software Requirements

Rhapsody supports the following platforms: HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, Linux and Windows.

Configuration of the Rhapsody engine requires a Windows PC to run the Rhapsody IDE, while the monitoring system is available via any Internet Browser.
