| Orion Health announces Case Management Centre of Excellence in Palma de Mallorca |
Centre to “transform care delivery models, adapting to the new Burden of Disease”Palma de Mallorca, 11 October, 2011 – Orion Health, a leading provider of healthcare integration and workflow technology, announced the launch of a Centre of Excellence for Case Management in Palma de Mallorca at the company’s Executive Forum entitled ‘Case Management: Unifying Care Unifying Records’.The Centre of Excellence is an outcome of years of collaboration between Orion Health and the Balearic Islands Health Service, (IB-Salut), confronting the challenge of collaborative and integrated case management. Orion Health’s Case Management Centre of Excellence will help “join up” the experience and knowledge developed in IB-Salut and other healthcare providers, with the support of Medical Societies and third parties. The objective of the project is to facilitate the implementation of collaborative Chronic Disease Programs, using evidence-based Clinical Pathways. The Centre will provide a vehicle to test, adapt and share innovations in collaborative case management, and to build up a core of clinical and economic evidence to support the adoption of such programmes. Healthcare providers from across Europe and Middle East greeted this news while attending Orion Health’s Executive Forum. The Executive Forum provided a platform for discussion among key European and Middle East health influencers, on the need for integrated care at a time when chronic conditions now dominate healthcare spend. The event focused particularly on the evidence that technology-assisted collaborative care could reduce the overall cost of care and improve health status for patients with chronic conditions. Presentations focused on how such programmes have been demonstrated to reduce A&E and hospital admissions, and avoid duplicated tests and procedures. Delegates were also given a demonstration of how Hospital Son Llatzer and Son Ferriol Health Center in Palma de Mallorca use the Case Management System across primary care and hospital settings.
