AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Oct. 12th, 2006 - Orion Health, a global provider of clinical information systems and integration technology for the healthcare sector, today announced that it has been named as a finalist for the prestigious 2006 New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) Export Awards. Orion Health has already been a finalist three times, in 2000, 2001 and 2002. The NZTE Export Awards, celebrating their 40th year, "recognise and celebrate the outstanding success of New Zealand exporters" and are "a showcase for innovative companies that are strategically achieving outstanding export growth," according to NZTE's Website, www.nzte.govt.nz. Orion Health is a finalist for an Export Award in the Information and Communication Technology category. Companies are divided into seven sector-based categories, and one of the category winners will be named the 2006 DHL Supreme Exporter of the Year. The Export Awards winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Sky City Convention Centre in Auckland on 30 November. "This year has seen some exceptional successes and major milestones for us internationally," said Ian McCrae, Orion Health's chief executive officer. "We are delighted and honoured that NZTE has recognised our efforts to move both our company and New Zealand forward through innovation and international expansion." This year, Orion Health entered the Japanese market for the first time, expanding an already significant Asia Pacific presence. Orion Health's success in North America has continued to build with the United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) using Rhapsody Integration Engine to track biological diseases in humans and animals. In Europe, wide-scale victim registration and identification systems using Orion Health technology were launched in Belgium, and there was a continuation of the strong growth in the large Spanish market. Orion health joins a diverse group of award finalists that includes enterprise companies earning more than $200 million annually in exports, as well as small, entrepreneurial software developers. NZTE CEO Tim Gibson said that the finalists are doing an exemplary job helping to improve New Zealand's economy. "Exporting demands confidence and commitment and the finalists in the 2006 Export Awards are an inspiration," Gibson said.
