Audit
A detailed evaluation of a person, organization, system, process, project, product and/or transactions.
Audits are performed to ascertain the validity and reliability of information and also provide an assessment of a system's internal control.

The goal of an audit is to record and objective finding on the person/organization/system under evaluation based on work done on a test basis.

In the management of personally identifiable health information, a comprehensive and secure audit is critical reassurance that information is being viewed appropriately.

Customized and comprehensive audit reports are usually configured for a range of purposes. For example;

  1. Patient perspective – who has seen my record?
  2. Administrator perspective – who has ‘broken the glass’; has a user accessed information appropriately or inappropriately.
  3. Physician - what other clinicians have viewed this record?

Audits can be configured from all Orion Health’s solutions and applications.

As well as technical and administrative reports, information from completed audit forms can be extracted on a regular basis for clinical audits – for example a report on the number of operations completed by an individual surgeon. These audit reports can provide information to be reviewed in peer group sessions for example for surgical re-accreditation.
