A message from our CEO

"The company's performance for the first half of 2010 has been healthy - with new deals and a more positive global economy driving the business expansion.

We are expecting our performance in revenue terms for the first six months of the financial year to be an 80% increase on the same period last year. This has been driven by strong performances across the globe with highlight wins in the USA, France, the Middle East and Singapore. In the last few months we have hired more than 70 additional staff and are looking to open up several new offices.

As a company, we’re growing and expanding but also continually innovating to improve our products, our processes and our service to you.

We thrive on making a difference to people’s lives. It has been a conscious decision for Orion Health to focus only on healthcare – because like you, it is what we know best and what we care about most.

It is also, however, thanks to our customers' desire for innovative, market leading eHealth solutions that we continue to grow our presence on the world stage, and we are grateful to you for your continued loyalty,"

Ian McCrae, Founder and CEO, Orion Health

New Product Releases

Upcoming Rhapsody 4.1 release

Orion Health is pleased to pre-announce the availability of the next release of its Rhapsody Integration Engine software in November 2010. This version will speed interface development and allow our OEM partners more options to deploy Rhapsody.

The new testing framework allows the unit testing of filters within the configuration. This not only accelerates the initial development and testing cycle, but also saves time when interface changes are required in the future.

OEM Partners will notice more deployment options – including an option to silently install Rhapsody and their custom configuration.

Drew Ivan, Product Manager for Rhapsody, says the new features have "greatly accelerated internal development and created an audible ‘wow’ during early previews."

Hunter New England – Disease Management

Hunter New England Area Health services a population of over 700,000 people across 1500sq miles - an area the size of the United Kingdom. The demand for services across this large area presents unique challenges.

Hunter New England recognized that the majority of care requirements within their area health service were being utilized by a small percentage of the population who suffer from Chronic Diseases such as Diabetes, COPD, CHF, and Asthma. They embarked upon an initiative to better manage patients with Chronic Disease to reduce the amount of Admissions due to complications and non-compliance.

In late 2009, Hunter New England Area Health Service applied for funding from the Federal and State Governments under the National Broadband Networks Initiative to implement a Tele-Health project that will include the utilization of home based medical devices that will be used to monitor and update specific aspects of their population’s health. Research has shown that close preventative monitoring of specific health conditions can offset presentations to Emergency and ensuing Admissions to secondary care centers.

Subsequent to this, Hunter New England Area Health Service sent a representative to Alberta Health Services, in Calgary to gain an overview of the solution that Orion Health has implemented in that province, paying particular interest to the Diabetes Hypertension and Cholesterol clinic.

Earlier this year, Hunter New England was awarded $5M dollars as part of the Digital Rural Networks federal grant. They are planning to roll out area wide disease management solutions including telehealth program with peripheral devices etc.
