Chris Hobson

Dr. Chris Hobson, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Chris Hobson is Chief Medical Officer for Orion Health. As a primary care practitioner and internist also certified in healthcare informatics, Chris brings international clinical, technical and policy level expertise to Orion Health's suite of integration technologies for health care organizations of all types. From his background in both developing and implementing successful health information technology, Chris is well versed in a wide range of hospital, specialist health care and physician HIT systems. His particular areas of interest and expertise are interoperability and disease management solutions.

Chris was the program lead for integrated care and IT at Counties Manukau District Health Board, a large tertiary hospital and health payer organization in Auckland, New Zealand. He oversaw the entire system adoption process, from developing the region's IT strategy, to the selection, development and implementation of the software. Successes included development and implementation of the first web-based disease management and child immunization programs of their kind in New Zealand. In patient systems developed include a hospital wide system for electronic discharges used by physicians and the emergency room white board.

Chris is a fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and a founding member of the HL7 New Zealand Steering Committee. In 2006, Chris was appointed to the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) as one of their interoperability expert panel members. Chris has presented at numerous conferences globally such as HIMS 2006, TEPR 2002, 2004 and 2005, MS-HUG 2001.

Dana Thomas

Dr. Dana Thomas, Clinical Consultant

Dr. Dana Thomas is a Clinical Consultant for Orion Health North America. As a member of Orion Health’s Design team, Dana provides leadership in the design and development of our suite of clinical products. Dana recently completed an Interaction Design course at Cooper U and is applying her newfound skills to the benefit of the end user. Her particular areas of expertise are CPOE, Results Reporting and Problem Lists.

Dana was a project analyst and clinical liaison in the IS department at Counties Manukau DHB that served an 800 bed hospital. She was the IS liaison to the CMO and at his request, was responsible for the IS training of every senior clinician in the hospital. Dana’s expertise also led her to assist the CMO with a project to drive sign off rates for electronic results and improve compliance with electronic documentation. As the result of this experience, Dana is particularly interested the change management challenges of clinical software implementations.

Dana has run requirements gathering workshops at several customer sites including Greene Memorial and Peninsula Health, where she has taken ownership of the clinical functionality, seeing it through design, development and eventual implementation.

Dana has presented at various conferences and clinical working sessions where she communicates successfully with all levels of people at customer sites; from registration clerks to laboratory managers, to CMIOs.

Jeanette Polaschek

Jeanette Polaschek, Clinical Consultant

Jeanette Polaschek is a Clinical Consultant for North America Professional Services Group. Her responsibilities include assisting clients with solution implementation, change management and serving as liaison to the Orion development team on new applications and product direction.

Jeanette spent over 17 years working with health care providers in a variety of key IT positions. She served as CIO for Downey Regional Medical Center in California where she managed all IT vendor relationships and played a major role in facilitating the organization’s financial turnaround. Jeanette established a strategic plan for IT investments that included system upgrades, replacement of aging technology and renegotiation of contract terms.

Jeanette was Director of Informatics for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for several years. She managed a team of clinicians, analysts, and technical staff in providing oversight to many strategic IT projects. She played a key leadership role in the development and implementation of the medical center's clinical data repository and integrated hospital information system. One component of the HIS was physician order entry. Jeanette gained valuable expertise in user interface design, change management and cultural expectations as a result of this experience.

Jeanette has a MS in Medical Information Sciences from Stanford University, a MS in Parent-Child nursing from Boston University, and a BA in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University.  She is a registered nurse with clinical experience in pediatric ICU nursing and has worked at several prestigious medical centers including Boston Children's Hospital, Stanford University and UCLA Medical Center.  She is actively involved in the CCHIT certification serving as a nurse juror and teaches a graduate course in Clinical Informatics at UCLA.
