Provider
Index
cPI creates and
maintains a comprehensive and trusted directory of information
about facilities, health professionals, organizations and
the services they provide. It provides users with a comprehensive
searchable directory and an authorization tool.
cPI is designed
to handle the myriad of disparate data that exists among
different healthcare organizations. By aggregating information
from the multiple independent systems that currently exist,
cPI provides one accurate, virtual record
which becomes the trusted source provider contact details,
identifiers for health services within an organization or
a region.
Using cPI, health professionals
can quickly access colleagues' contact information, IT systems
can verify the access rights of users wishing to access
their resources, the public can search for contact details
of their local health professionals, specialists, hospitals,
pharmacies and other healthcare organizations and primary
health professionals can access waiting lists in order to
refer their patients more effectively.
Key benefits
cPI offers tangible benefits
to physicians and health administrators:
- Provides one consistent and accurate
identifier, which links all disparate identifiers
- Standardizes health professional demographic,
practicing, and facility data by providing one authoritative
central reference point for all data. This yields significant
cost savings across an integrated health community through
the pooling of resources.
- Ensures information is always accurate
and up to date
- Enables health professionals, agencies,
and patients to search for comprehensive provider information
against the one source and thus reducing the time and
hassle involved in interacting with each different system.
Seamless
integration with existing systems
cPI uses open systems technology
and industry standard protocols and message formats, allowing
it to effortlessly integrate with best of breed IT systems.
Data can be imported/exported, using XML or CSV files.
Where the data format in existing departmental
systems prevents records being directly uploaded to the
cPI, Orion Health's Rhapsody Integration
Engine can be used to map the data into a compatible format.
This technique enables existing applications to be rapidly
integrated with the cPI.
