Rhapsody Implementation Supports USDA Surveillance
Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine is a champion of food safety and a foot soldier for the preservation of the agricultural industry on the eastern seaboard of the United States.
The college is one of 28 veterinary schools in the United States, but one of only three in the Northeast.
Cornell’s laboratory tests for a range of diseases including Classical Swine Fever, Avian Influenza (in both wild and zoological birds), Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE, sometimes called Mad Cow Disease) and Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and will soon include Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). The center is part of a network comprised of sets of laboratories that focus on different diseases and needed to communicate with the USDA electronically.
